History
Singles Reaching Out began with the first event in June 2003 held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Our group originally consisted of 8 persons. Joyce, Ed, Jack, Margaret, Yvonne, John, Mike, and Carolyn evolved and formulated a desire to provide a social arm for the Beginning Experience Ministry for singles that had become separated, divorced, or lost a spouse to death. We were looking to provide an opportunity for single individuals to meet and make new friendships with others of all faiths.
SRO is not a match-making service. We provide a safe and fun filled event for single individuals to socialize with other singles. Although we are not a service, we have had several group members fall in love and marry. We are very proud that our early members Todd and Joy Stassel from St. Elizabeth Ann Seton share their lives together. Carole Wheeler and John Wikoff were married in June 2007.
Team members are the core of the group. We have formed close friendships and socialize throughout the calendar in addition to our monthly team member meetings (usually held on the first or second Sunday of the month). Team meetings often include Sunday dinners. Join our team and share a Sunday with us.
In the past we have shared holidays, hay rides, dinner, sports events, movies, and a day at the lake. For the future we are considering a cruise vacation. SRO’s goal is to socialize and by doing so allow each person to mark their calendar once a month for an evening of fun, laughter, food, hospitality, and friendship.
